Very similar to the last image I posted but instead of the sound waves in the background I drew a heart monitor scale. The sound waves image was an image I acquired from google that I totally manipulated but still was not totally my own work. The plus side of this was I like the heart monitor background much better because it makes more sense relating to the image. A heart bumps just like the speaker therefore the hand looks as though it is holding a heart that is bumping.

Finally
In my last blog I lied unintentionally by saying I had my final design of my poster. Well now I finally do. Here it is.

Redesign
After many attempts at my poster design, I have changed it 7 times. I finally have my final design.
It needs a little bit of touching up within the background of the design. The sound waves are not quite there yet but the design itself is my most successful so far. I cropped the poster down so now it is strictly focused on the Jambox. To emphasize this I put the title "BUMP" in the center of the Jambox.

Down to one
Finally I have narrowed it down to one poster design. I chose the design with the normal colored hands holding the silver Jambox. The background is a clean white while under the hands holding the Jambox is a sound grid that is colored in the order of the color wheel. Because the colors go in order of the color wheel the color scheme is easy to look at and not too much for how many colors are involved.

More progress
Now I have 4 rough drafts of different ideas for my poster. All have a common theme of the speaker being held in the middle of the poster with the name BUMP above. The sound waves and sound grid are behind the speaker to demonstrate what the item does. The difference between all 4 is the color scheme. Hopefully I will narrow it down to one design soon.

Reaction to readings
The readings all have one concept in common about design which is design is limitless. Design is a common word that has an almost undefined and unlimited meaning. The readings went through the guidelines to what they say is good design. A common theme that was talked about was the function of the design. For the design to be successful it must work. A non working design is clearly pointless. Not only must it work but it should also be self explanatory. The design should look like what it does. Also the design should be pleasing to the eye. Good designs are wanted to be used by the people not only because of how well it works but also how pleasing it is to the eye. The design should also be reliable and long lasting. The design should be perfect throughout every small detail while also following the concept that less is more. Sometimes the most simple designs can be the most successful. Design is a part of life not to fix life but to make life worth fixing. As the book, Toothpicks and Logos, says on page 5, “Design is to design a design to produce a design.”

First project process
My project is just now starting to come together as I have pretty much mapped out what I want to do for my poster. This is what I have so far as a rough draft. This is just the basic idea. I will be taking my own photograph of the Jambox and photoshoping the colors to match a specific color scheme which I have not yet finalized. Than the sound grid will be matching that color scheme while taking over the background to give the effect that the Jambox is playing it's music. The letters of the word BUMP will be arranged similar to how they are now but with a little bit more flair with colors and direction.
